Tension/Trauma Release Exercise (TRE)
TRE is the body’s natural way of releasing deeply held stress and tension. It is a body-based technique that I use successfully with both children and adults. Knowing how to release this tension in a safe way while being guided by a skilled practitioner allows one to live a more free, fulfilled, and empowered life.
David Berceli, PhD – an international expert in the areas of trauma intervention and conflict resolution, created TRE in response to looking for more effective ways to help and support those living in war-torn countries in the Middle East, where he worked for many years. This revolutionary technique is designed to help release deep tension created in the body during a traumatic experience or through the build-up of chronic stress.
TRE is a series of simple exercises that assist the body in releasing deeply held muscular patterns of stress and tension. When this shaking/tremoring mechanism is activated in a safe environment, the body is able to start releasing stored muscular tension allowing it to start returning to its natural state of balance. When tension is released in the body, the brain registers a reduction in stress signals and lowers the release of stress hormones. Long-term use of TRE has been proven to raise physical and emotional resilience.
